I have been studying Blackrock Castle and the area surrounding it, I have been exploring it through sketching studies. I have also made a variety of imprints to have a better idea of the structure of the castle wall, its texture an dept.
Colour is something I am really passionate about, as it can completely change the way you see things. For my drawings imprints of the castle wall, i start with just pencil, graphite and charcoal, then I add colour to reflect on different weather conditions, creating atmospheric perspective in my artwork.
I am very much textiles focused and I have loved using the digital sewing machine to transform my drawings. I have also worked into them using the free stitch sewing machine. Stitching has helped me produce depth in my mark making.
I have also made a series of collages basing these on my photography/ colour studies and atmospheric perspective. For my collages I have used a variety of mixed mediums, which included canvas, paper, threads, ink, pastel, acrylic fabric and varnish.
